Pre-qualification

The first step in your journey is getting pre-qualified. Pre-qualification is where our team assesses your current situation to give you an idea of how much money you can borrow. Pre-qualification isn’t an application for finance and won’t sit on your credit file.

Once pre-qualification has happened, you may have the opportunity to obtain pre-approval. Buildtoday has contacts with lots of brokers who specialise in first homebuyers and low deposit applications. The brokers we connect you with can figure out what sort of loan you need and then help you with your application to the lender. Your pre-approval will also confirm for you how much money the lender is prepared to provide you for your new home.

Find a piece of land

The fun begins here! Make a list of some areas you’d like to live in and begin the search for a plot of land. If you need help, our Free Land Finding Service can do it for you. Just tell our team what you’re looking for and they can hunt down the right block for your needs.

We’ve got floorplans to suit any size or shape of block, as well as access to townhomes and dual occupancy designs, so we can put together a home and land package just for you. Your home can be personalised during the colour selection process so you get a final product that fits with your style.

Pre-construction phase

Once your finance has come through, we can start working towards construction. We’ll arrange testing for the site, drawings of your home, engineered design work and put together all the other documents you’ll need for council approval.

Council approvals

Local council will need to approve your home and make sure it complies with regulations in the area. They’ll go through all your pre-construction documents and ensure everything is in order.

Building approvals

At this point we lodge your project with a private certifier who makes sure the build complies with Australian Building Standards and all local planning requirements. Once you’ve got building approval, we can set a start date for construction!

You’ve made it! Tradespeople arrive on site and they begin the final leg of your new home journey. They’ll lay the slab, put up the walls and roof, and when it’s all done, you’ll get the keys to your new home.

Warranty & maintenance period

Your home is done and you’re all moved in, but the Buildtoday team is still around if you need help. Our builders provide a standard 12 month maintenance period. During this time, if you have any questions or concerns, just drop us a line.
